Puch PJOA

Boat

The Puch PJOA proa is aimed at “Spartan” dinghy cruising on sheltered waters, in winds up to 3-4 Beaufort. The design is as close to traditional boats from the islands of Micronesia as possible, where they were and are used for crossing lagoons or open ocean if bigger size. The differences are dictated by modern materials applied which are available in our region and usually represent better parameters.

Technology and materials

Puch’s main hull is made with red cedar planks with glass & epoxy laminate inside and outside. Outrigger is made with marine plywood and solid pine wood. We use also hard wood for heavy used and load elements, like splashboards, ama pillar, gunwales etc. Platform (bridge) is based on two aluminum profiles planked with good quality pine wood, all structure is lashed, that provide a proper strenght and flexibility.
Boom and yard are hollow, made with glued pine wood, aluminum mast with hard wood top.

Puch can be assemble and disassemble in about 30 minutes, for transport you need dedicated trolley. Main hull contains two lockable compartments, and bigger cargo space under platform (bridge) for water proof bags etc. The bridge between hulls can accommodate a small tent, provided mast step is moved to the socket at the end of the bench.

Each boat is assembly and rigg by us using best ropes and fittings. As a basic finish boat comes covered with anti UV laquer with some brown pigment, waterline and our logo on sides.
